I've known Sarah since 2004, when she visited London, long before she ended up living there for good. As a journalist myself, I was intrigued by her story. I pitched an idea to her: let's do a book or article about your journey. Without waiting a second, her eyes brimmed. She answered without another moment's delay; she said YES. She said, "I've always wanted to do this, but I don't know how." Back then, she had always dreamed about having her own company on the property.
For me, when she approached me and told me she was drafting a book, I was thrilled and proud of my girl's accomplishment and achievement in her life, and of the privilege of calling her my friend. Trust me, it's hard being her, and what she's gone through in her lifetime, and to be where she is right now… WOW!! Not to forget that it was a privilege to have her stay for a couple of nights at my humble home in Colchester. In a world where silence often protects the guilty and punishes the brave, this book stands as a testament to the power of speaking out. In March 2016, I made a buy to let investment of £138,167 into Unit 17.05 at The Residence, Manchester, believing in a vision that promised—if not guaranteed—two years’ rental income, growth, and opportunity. That dream collapsed when the developer, EL Group, went into administration mid-project, leaving over 200 investors stranded and a combined loss of more than £16 million.
This wasn’t just a financial blow—it was a wake-up call. It taught me that due diligence isn’t optional, transparency is non-negotiable, and resilience is everything. As a resilience motivational speaker, I turned this setback into fuel for my mission: to expose the truth behind property deals and empower investors to make informed, fearless decisions.
